3 Easy Ways To Quiet Your Ego & Mind Chatter

There are many ways you can use to quiet your ego and clear your mind, but I will list 3 techniques that I like to use myself.  This is important to do if you want to accelerate your own self-growth.

A “busy mind” will only perpetuate worry and stress in your life because the ego thinks it is protecting you from harm if it is constantly on the lookout for negative things to happen to you.  But this is not the case.  If you are always worrying about negative things and thinking about past experiences that happened to you and what is going to happen in the future, you will continue re-living the same experiences.  It is a vicious cycle you must break in order for you to live a positive life.

So now that you know why you need to quiet your mind, here are 3 easy ways you can use to help you on your path of positive growth:

1) Bring your attention to your body.  Feel the aliveness and vibration within.  You can start with your hands or feet and let the vibration run through your entire body if you would like.  Look at your hands and try to notice a feeling in them, you will either start to feel warmth, tingling, cold, or like a breeze is flowing in your palms.  Hold that feeling for as long as you want, focus on it and try to feel that in the rest of your body.

Doing this will bring your attention and focus on your body, which I find allows me to stop thinking and to quiet my mind.  When you quiet your mind you open yourself up to receiving intuitive guidance.  It is important to recognize and follow your intuition to help you to live your life’s purpose.

2) Deep breathing.  Take full, deep breaths and feel the air moving in and out of your lungs.  Feel your chest and abdomen expanding and contracting.  You can also call this meditation.  Imagine you are breathing in white, healing light that is filling up your body and when you exhale, imagine all your tensions and worries are leaving you.

This will help you to relax and it will become easier to stop negative thoughts from entering your mind.  Whenever a thought comes to your mind, just gently focus on your breathing again to stop thinking.  The more you practice the better you will become.  Even if you start doing this exercise for 1 minute at a time, with practice you can increase the amount of time you go without a thought.

3) Mindful walking.  You walk so much during your day, while you are walking you can practice quieting your mind.  What I like to do is when I am walking I will focus on taking 3 steps and breathing in at the same time.  I will then exhale on 3 steps.  Focus on breathing in and out in rhythm with your steps.  This is a great exercise to keep your mind quiet because you are focusing on two things, your breath and steps.

There you have it, 3 easy ways to quiet your ego and mind chatter.  If you take time to practice any one of these techniques you will experience more peace and love in your life and be able to stay calm during situations that were once stressful to you.

You Have Two Brains…

Did you know you have two brains?  Yes, your gut is considered to be your second brain and perhaps it is just as vital and as your first brain-the one in your head.

Having earned the title of the second brain, the gut is in constant dialogue with the:

  • Immune system
  • Brain and neurological system
  • Hormonal system
  • Our inner ecology

The connection between the gut and our psychology is a two-way street. On the one hand, gastrointestinal inflammation and infection can contribute to things like depression and brain fog.  On the other, mental stress or trauma can cause intestinal permeability or “leaky gut.” 

Everyday stress could cause harmless microbes in your body to become pathogenic! These bacteria will rapidly multiply and mutate, leaving you at risk for an infection.

The bacteria and yeast living on your skin outnumber the cells that make up your organs and fluids in your body by 10-1.  So if you work to feed the good bacteria and replenish your body with healthy bacteria you will begin to notice a change within yourself very rapidly.  By eating probiotic rich foods you will help your body replace the bad bacteria with the good guys.
The benefits of having good, healthy bacteria populating your gut (second brain) are so incredible, your life could change dramatically for the better.  You will gain more clarity and focus in your life.  Not to mention your body will become much healthier as a result.  It will strengthen the relationship you have with yourself, spiritually and physically.

Why You Have Nothing to Fear

A few years ago I was driving my truck on the highway heading to the United States.  Around that time is when I was going through a major change within myself spiritually.  I was practicing being in the present moment and not “thinking” of anything else.

While I was driving on the highway, I suddenly found myself feeling this VERY deep sense of peace.  It felt like I just woke up and I didn’t remember how I was still able to drive, like I spaced out and my subconscious was driving.

When I awoke into this feeling, I KNEW that no matter what happens in my life everything will be good.  This was the most intense feeling of peace I had ever experienced even to this day.  I cannot describe it fully in human language.  All thoughts and feelings just melted away.  Even if I tried to think of a negative thought, it could not permeate that feeling of peace and love.

This feeling lasted for minutes, I’m not sure how long exactly but it didn’t matter at the time.  What mattered was that I was enjoying the experience I was having because there is nothing in the past or future that can be of benefit to me.

That experience taught me that no matter what happens in my life everything will be okay.  And this applies to everyone.  We are here on earth to have an experience and to enjoy it, when our body dies WE do not die.  We are eternal beings.  Since we are eternal, nothing can harm us.

We are guaranteed Life!  Even if the worst case scenario happens here on earth, which is death of the physical body, we will still be okay because your soul never dies.

So what is there to fear and worry about?  Nothing!  Because in the end, this life you are living here on earth is just an experience.  Why not just enjoy every moment of it, whether “good” or “bad.”

Can I Have Big Arms AND Be Spiritual?

Okay, this post isn’t really about having big arms, rather it is about whether it is “spiritually acceptable” to improve your physical looks while working towards enlightenment.  Whether you are weightlifting, bodybuilding, running, yoga, etc…

There seems to be a belief out there that if you consciously work on your physical looks, or body build, then you are being “one” with the ego.   Or some people think you’re just brainwashed from all of the advertisements featuring skinny models with perfect teeth and perfect skin.  Well, they’re right…sort of.

Some people are totally engrossed with their ego and just want to look good in order to “prove” something to themselves and their peers-mostly their peers.  And some people just genuinely have a passion for improving themselves physically but at the same time are spiritual and have a love for other people and humanity as a whole.

Even if you are getting in shape purely for the ego, the attention you are placing on your body can eventually lead to a spiritual awakening.  When I first started weightlifting over a decade ago, I did it just to look good and be stronger than everyone else.  I didn’t believe in Spirit or God, I thought that was ridiculous.  But through the years of building my body and learning the best techniques and diets, I eventually reached a point where I wanted to start training my mind.  And that led to learning about spirituality and then becoming a Healer.

My point is, focusing your attention on your body can give you enough “quiet” moments to recognize that you are something more than just a physical being.  You will start to hear your Spirit and your Higher Self will start to shine through.

I still have the same excitement about bodybuilding and weightlifting as when I started, except now I do it to reflect my inner body and beliefs.  I am strong emotionally and spiritually and choose to have my physical body reflect that.  Also I want my body to be the best “channel” it can be by eating a clean diet and exercising, so that my clients can have the best healing experience they can receive.  I believe that if I am a clear channel, then I can create a clear space for people to heal.

So, Can you have big arms and be spiritual at the same time?  I think so.  I feel that the best way to “ascend” is to have your body, mind and soul in perfect balance and to be a reflection of who you are and who you choose to be.  Exercise can be a great spiritual teacher.
